In the design of medical facilities, coordination with engineers specifying mechanical equipment is always a priority. Structural design must not only include allowances for mechanical and equipment loads, but must also allow required clearance between the ceiling and the floor or roof structure above. This is especially true of operating rooms, where overhead equipment is needed.
Other special requirements may include shielding by use of lead plates or large masses of concrete for imaging equipment. Often medical equipment is sensitive to vibration and deflections. At Engineering Solutions we are aware of all these special requirements.
